YOUTH CLINIC COUNSELLOR (FULL TIME)

The Victoria Youth Clinic Society, lead agency for Foundry Victoria is seeking a Master’s Level Youth Clinic Counsellor. We have two openings, one maternity leave position and one permanent position. Both are full time, equivalent to 37.5 hours per week.

Foundry Victoria is an integrated youth and young adult service delivery model comprising primary care, mental health, substance use, social services and peer support. This position works independently and as part of a robust interdisciplinary primary care team to provide advanced level clinician interventions.

This position acts a clinical resource in the area of mental health, substance use and social determinants of health. Participates in intake assessment, treatment, intervention, drop-in counselling and therapeutic groups to youth aged 12 – 24. The Counsellor will establish supportive and trusting relationships that promote mental health and wellness and reduce client risk within a stepped care model and on a drop-in basis.

The clinician maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the Director of Clinical Care & Practice as needed.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT FACILITATOR (FULL TIME)

The Victoria Youth Clinic Society, lead agency for Foundry Victoria is seeking one full-time Youth Engagement Facilitator for 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Foundry Victoria is an integrated youth and young adult service delivery model comprising primary health, mental health, substance use, social services and peer support, serving youth aged 12 – 24 years old. The Youth Engagement Facilitator participates as a member of the Foundry Victoria team.

Working closely with the Youth Peer Coordinator, the Youth Engagement Facilitator is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programming that supports youth to connect to social supports, peer-based mentorship, and systems navigation tools. The Facilitator uses a variety of engagement methods, including drop-in groups and same-day one-on-one appointments. Providing information and education on sexual health is part of the overall scope of the Facilitator role.

Drawing on their own lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges, the Youth Engagement Facilitator provides direct support services that connect youth to the various services and programs offered by the clinic, as well as to services offered by community partners. The intent is to engage youth in order to improve their psychical and emotional health and reduce the potential of harm by establishing access to ongoing preventative services.

All members of the Peer Support team work collaboratively with youth, their families, and members of the broader primary care and allied health teams.

The Youth Engagement Facilitator reports to the Youth Peer Coordinator.
